30 Minutes or Less

It’s a pity this Fleischer-Eisenberg Zombieland follow up isn’t as funny as it should have been. The script is full of good jokes and the premise is inventive, exciting and totally unsuitable. Jesse Eisenberg’s pizza delivery boy is strapped to a bomb and forced to rob a bank before a set time. It thrusts the character right into the action, but the effect isn’t Speed-esque adrenaline – it’s just fear that overwhelms all the zaniness the characters can throw at us. Just one of those unfortunate quirks of audience response that gets in the way of a good time, but for the misjudged choice to emphasise the realness of the threat. Miss.
