Paul Thomas Anderson’s 6th film takes place entirely in the theatre of the mind… perhaps. Not much is certain in a puzzle without a master key, not even the extent of the narrative’s unreliability. Attentive viewers are rewarded with a multitude of hints (and suggestive imagery) spiralling the mind into various incompatible tangential readings.
